Our Neighbor, Ms. W.
Ms. W purchased her home in 1971 and has been living there for the past 50 years. She and her late husband raised their children there along with 42 foster children. Although her husband died more than 15 years ago, he left a legacy of service as a sergeant in the Marine Corps who served in the Korean War.
Ms. W has a large extended family consisting of siblings, nieces, nephews, grandchildren, and great grandchildren, many of who also reside in Montgomery County. She has dealt with rheumatoid arthritis for many years, is deaf in her left ear, and after suffering from glaucoma has become blind in her right eye.
With everyday tasks becoming more difficult for her to navigate due to her age and disabilities, the task of addressing the crumbling bridge leading up to her home was unfathomable. Our partners at Chevy Chase Contractors moved quickly to repair the bridge before winter, when ice made it even more frightening to navigate. Ms. W will now be able be able to cross the bridge without fear and safely reach her home for years to come.
